Yosemite and California

Yosemite and California

I fell in love with the Sierra when I was seven years of age. Having a mystical experience, I realized that the mountains of California were where I belonged. This connection has endured for my entire life, and informs much of my artwork.

Black and White

Black and White

The power of black and white lies in simplification and abstraction. The first images we have from cave paintings are black and white, with hints of color. It is all we need.

Wayne Thiebaud gave me the greatest compliment when he said,

"Jerry has great facility with line" .

Wayne was one of the world's greatest draftsmen.

France and Italy

France and Italy

Most of my favorite art comes from these two countries, which explains much of my aesthetic taste and influences. It all started with the Cezanne still lifes in the Art Institute of Chicago when I was young, and then it was Matisse and Braque and it goes on...

Still Life

Still Life

I have been doing still life drawing and painting since I was seven years old. It is a form of meditation for me. Most of them have sold, but I will keep the unsold ones at the beginning of the collection.

Abstraction

Abstraction

Abstraction in art is always a matter of closeness to, or distance from reality.

It asks us and allows us to invest the image with more of our own interpretation.

I love the works of Motherwell, Kline and Diebenkorn's early abstracts...
